He’s been married 54 years and has 3 children.  In 2001 he became t he V.P. of Conservation for the Northern California Council\, Fly Fishers International (NCCFFI). In 2005\, after returning from a lobby trip to D.C . on Snake River dam removal\, he was invited to be the California Organiz er of the Endangered Species Coalition (ESC)\, working to stop the Congres sional effort to rewrite the Endangered Species Act (ESA).  He worked for 12 years for the ESC as the California Organizer\, and then the Pacific F ield Organizer in charge of California\, Oregon and Washington field opera tions.  He has been in leadership for Fly Fishers International (FFI) sin ce joining the Board of the Northern California Council\, FFI in 2003\, se rving as V.P. of Conservation\, and then President from 2018 to 2023. He c ontinues today as the V.P. of Conservation\, and has received the coveted FFI Conservation Leadership Award twice - 2007 &\; 2023.\n\n\nHe began working on Klamath river dam removal in 2003\, signing the original Klamat h Basin Restoration Agreement (KBRA) &\; Klamath Hydropower Settlement Agreement (KHSA) agreements in 2010\, and the current revised KHSA in 2015 . It’s been a 20+ year collaborative\neffort to provide the opportunity for the Klamath River to return to its historic greatness. In 2023 the lic ense to operate the Klamath project was transferred and surrendered to the Klamath River Renewal Corporation\, the entity formed to manage removal o f the 4 dams and oversee restoration of the footprint lands of the project . As of early 2024\, the Klamath is running free for the first time since 1918\, and all dams will be off the river by the end of October 2024.\n\nM ark continues to be focused on fishery &\; watershed conservation as hi s post-chiropractic life mission. “I spent my professional life treating spine and nervous system interference problems for my community in the Sa n Francisco region for 25 years\, and my post Chiropractic life working to improve our planet. Prior to joining CWC\, she worked for ten years as the Communications Director a nd a fish biologist for the fisheries consulting company FISHBIO\, where s he worked to study and conserve freshwater fishes in California and Southe ast Asia. Erin has a master's degree in Marine Science from Moss Landing M arine Laboratories\, where she studied ichthyology\, and is a graduate of the Science Communication program at UC Santa Cruz.\n\nFor more than 30 ye ars\, the Coastal Watershed Council has worked to preserve and protect coa stal watersheds through community stewardship\, education\, and monitoring . Since 2013\, our nonprofit has focused on transforming the lower San Lor enzo River in downtown Santa Cruz into a thriving urban riverfront and com munity destination. We do this by inspiring people to explore\, enhance\, and protect this critical natural resource. Ben Harris has served as Executive Director of MBSTP since 2018. Ben earne d his Bachelor's degree in Fisheries Biology from Humboldt State Universit y and a Master's Degree in Fisheries &\; Wildlife Resources from West V irginia University. Ben has extensive experience studying and working towa rd the recovery of native salmon &\; trout throughout the US.
