October Fly Tying Class: Salmon Egg

October 14, 2026 at Aptos Grange

Led by: Elaine Cook - Fly Tying Chairman
Target Species: Steelhead

Fishing for steelhead is just around the corner. They readily eat salmon eggs so have a few of these in your box. It’ relatively easy to tie but knowing the technique is real important. You beginners ought to feel comfortable tying this one. The thread is particularly important. It needs to be very strong such as UTC Ultra 140 or flat wax nylon. Bring white and we’ll touch it up with various colors of Sharpie pens to match the color of the eggs that you tie. Bring your tools and vise. There will be Equipment and thread for beginners. All materials are provided and the classes is free. please sign up at the club meeting or call me at 831-234-6515. A courtesy call is appreciated if you have to cancel. Also sign ups need to occur at least 24 hours in advance.
