The Tan Hair Wing Dun (often referred to as the Harrop’s Hair Wing Dun) is a highly effective, versatile dry fly used to imitate the emerging or newly hatched “dun” (subimago) stage of mayflies. The tan coloring is particularly useful for matching lighter mayflies, such as Pale Morning Duns (PMDs) or Pale Evening Duns.
Sign-ups are at the monthly meeting first Wednesday of the month as usual – there will be a sign-up sheet.

I’m taking this month off as I’m going on a last minute trip to Lake Almanor to get in on the hex hatch. For those not familiar, hex refers to the Hexagenia mayfly. That yellow bug in the photo for this month’s article is a Hexagenia. The photo was taken a few years ago at Lake Almanor.
